Evalaution Question 2

Here is a poster promoting Elton John’s new album like mine there is an image of the artist and also what the album is called. This is also a rather simple colour theme as is mine. Once reasearching this real media product it gave me the idea to make my poster rather simple asit looks effective if you give it enough information.

Evaluation Question 1.
Our music video product uses the forms and conventions of a music video as it followed the narrative, the song was called “Without a Meaning” It was about a teenage girl and boy that were in a relationship, then broke up. The boy tries to get the girl back, but the girl doesn’t want to get back with him. They end up going there own separate ways at the end. The music video shows their relationship, its goes back and shows the happy times in their relationship and also the bad times showing arguments.
Our Video follows the conventions just like Andrew Goodwin said " A good music video is a clip that responds to the pleasure of music, in which that the music is made visual, either in the new waysor ina way that accentuates exisisting visual associations"
The quote shows how the visual is a very important part of music to express the way in which music is portrayed. Our music video links to the way in which Andrew Goodwin said a music clip should be as he said it should be based on the visuals, and this is what we have done and thats why we don't have a large part of lypsyncing in our music video.
Unlike other music video that show a break up you could say that our video challenged the forms and conventions in the narrative as the couple don’t get back together at the end like your ‘usual’ story would go like.
Our music video develops the forms and conventions of a music video as it tells a story. You can clearly see that the girl and boy were in a relationship. We developed this by making our music video into a story so not only was it a piece of music with a narrative but it followed a story of a girl and boys break up, we wanted to keep our music video rather simple by using only two locations which is the park and a house. Just like the real media producat of Usher's 'Burn' there is only two locations used which is inside a house and outside. We didnt want to use much lypsincing as we wanted the story to be mostly shown through the action happening. Just like this real media product, ours shows a couple in a relationship. Also the real media product has a male as the singer in the video. In both video's the boy tries to get the girl back and at the end but this dosen't happen. The two song, our's and the real media product are very simular ad its the boy trying to keep the girl. In the real media product I studied you can see at 1 minute 40 seconds that the couple are very close within there relationship, we also showed times of happiness between the couple.
Here is Usher's Video Burn.

I watched this and it inspirared us to base our music video like this, in a story like form, as we found that it would link nicely to our media product.

Evalution question 3
I have found out from my audience feedback that we could have used more specail effects within the music video its self . As a big percentage of people said there werent enough special effects used. The special effects that were used were said to be good. Also from the audience feedback alot of people commented on the lypsyncing saying we could have used more, but we wanted the lypsyncing to be very minimal as we wanted the focus to be mainly of the action happening.
After giving out 15 questionaires to people that had viewed my music video I concluded that
1. All 15 people asked like the album cover and thought it was very eye catching so we must of used enough information and the right colours to make the cover stand out.
2. When asked would the poster make you want to buy the poster, 12 people said that they would but 3 people said they wouldnt, so over half of the people would want to buy the cd after seeing the poster which shows we made it detailed and professional looking.
3. when asked do you think our digipak looks professional 12 people said yes, which means the same amount of people liked the poster as they did the digipak so we must have made them appealing to audience members.
4.when asked could we have added thing else to the poster 4 people said yes we could and 7 said no, so with the results being rather close, it shows that maybe a little more information could have been added to apeal to everyone. Maybe to the image o the Cd could have been on the Cd or the price in which the Cd ould be sold at.
5. When asked could we have used more coulours to the digipak or poster 11 people said yes and only 4 people said no, so this shows that the audience would have preferred there to be more colours used on both of the digi pak and poster. Even though in my own opinion we had decided to keep it to a simple colour theme or red white and black so that it all tied in nicely together, so i dont think personally adding more colours would have made a better outcome.
6. When 'asked do you think we had enough camera angles', everyone one answered yes, which means we must had used enough variation of shots within the music video to make it interesting and excting to watch.
7. We asked 'Did you like the narrative'? 13 people said yes that they did and 2 people said they didn't so with a high percentage of people saying they did like it shows, it was a good and interesting narrative to have.
8.We asked 'Do you think the shots matched the narrative'? and all 15 people answered yes, so this shows that we used the right type of camera angles to match the narrative.
9. We ased 'Which part if the video did you like the most?' This was a rather mixed response, 4 people said that they liked the arguement scene the best, 2 people said they enjoyed the park scenes, 2 people said they liked the shots in the house, 3 people said they liked the ending, when they went there seperate ways and 5 people said they liekd the roundabout shots the best, so this shows that the roundabout appealed to most people, indicating that these were the best shots used within the music video.
10. We asked 'Do you think the font on the opening titles were suitable fir the video?' 10 people answered yes, and only 2 people said no, so this shows that our font must of been of worked well for our music video. We shows we chose right.
11. We asked 'What do you think of the specail effects used in the music video? 13 people said we could have used more specail effects and only 2 people said the effects were good, so this shows, our specail effects were poor and that we should of included alot more, for it to appeal to the audience.
12. We asked 'If you could change one thingwhat would you change?'
6 people answered lypsyncing showing that they would have added more lypsyncing into the video, 4 people said the would have used more locations to film in, so maybe we could have made more of lacations and filmed in more places. 3 people said they would have changed the band/song, saying they didnt really like the band and the song, maybe it wasn't to there liking and lastly only 1 person said the costume could have been better. The clothing was don't to making the actors look very student like.
13.When asked, 'Do you think our music video could apear on music channels?' 6 people answered yes, 6 people said Maybe and only 3 people said No, so this shows over half the people asked either answered yes or maybe, showing that possibly our music video would could be seen on music channels.
14. When asked 'Did you like the song?' 10 people answered yes, and only 5 answered no, so this shows two thirds of the peope did like the song, but 5 poeple did not.
15. When asked 'Do you think the locations were suitable for the narrative?' 13 people answered yes and only 2 people said no, this shows that most people thought the narrative was suitable for the narrative which is good.

Evauation Question 4
How did you use new media technologies in the construction, reasearch, planning and evaluation stages?
Thoughout the construction, reasearch, planning and evalution stages I used various different technologies to make my final product of a music video, poster to promote the album and also a digi pak for the new album. Here is what I used...
I used premier pro, this was where we edited the footage for our music video.
Here is me using photoshop, on here there is various different icons for me to edit and add effects to images in order for me to make my digipak look professional.
I am editing a picture and cutting around it, for me to add it onto one of the sides of the digi pak.
Here is a photograph of me using the camera.
Here is a screen shot of me using premier pro. I used this to edit my footage for my music video, and also to add on the track to the footage. As you can see, there is a timeline and you have to get all your footage onto it and arrange bits of footage together in order to make a music video flow nicley. Also it has to fit into the beat. You also include the song into this program and edit according to that.
http://www.google.co.uk/
I used google to look for real Cd posters and Digipaks so that it would give me inspiration and ideas when i was making my own.
http://www.blogger.com/
I used blogger to record all of my work and show the process of making the music video, the poster and also the digipak.
http://www.youtube.com/?gl=GB&hl=en-GB
You tube was used when analysing other music video's to give inspiration for when we were making ours, and also whilst searching for a band.
http://www.myspace.com/
Myspace was used for looking up local bands in my area, that i would possibly use for the song in my music video.
